How to complete 'Visits to the US'

If you were present in the United States prior to coming on your current immigration status listed in the previous section, list your previous immigration statuses in this section.

Your residency for tax purposes is determined by the complete history of all statuses/visits to the US from 1986 onwards, as a student, a trainee, a scholar or a teacher holding an F, J, M, or Q visa, and by the complete history of your US statuses/visits for the last 3 calendar years for all other immigration statuses different to F, J, M, and Q. To add a previous status, use the "Add status" option in this section.

Once you fill out the previous section on Step 1 the system will automatically add one status for your current Visa selected above as the first one. After that you need to click ‘Add status’ for each different Visa held in the US.

You do not need to report each separate physical visit to the US, only the different Visa types held. The start and end dates for each status should not overlap with each other.

However the oldest status added has to have the exact same date for the start as the date you selected on the first question - 'When was your first visit to the US?'.
